What is Club Café?
Club Café is Chico’s only Ballroom dance club – alcohol-free and open to all ages.
Club Café is a place where anyone and everyone is welcomed and encouraged to
participate in a classic form of socializing, appealing to young and old alike:
Ballroom dancing. As the name implies, Club Café is a club…and has a club feel,
complete with club lighting, and a club style DJ.

Where is Club Café?
Club Café is held at the same location as the former Club Sole,
currently the site of Matthews Café, located in the Almond Orchard Plaza,
Chico, California.

The address is:
2201 Pillsbury Road,
Chico, CA 95926

Matthews Café has one of the nicest and largest dance floors in the area,
full booth seating, and a full service coffee shop.

When is Club Café?
Club Café is held on the first Saturday of every month. We are currently looking
to expand and hold regular dances on other nights as well. For the time being Club
Café happens on the first Saturday of every month, with occasional special dance

Music:
We offer a wide range of music at our dances, everything from big band swing to today’s top hits.
We strive for a mix of all types of Ballroom, Latin, and Swing. These Saturday night events are
geared towards a club atmosphere, with a slightly faster and upbeat song list, catering towards
West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Salsa, and Streethustle dancers. Though the night is not specifically
geared towards a traditional Ballroom feel, we strive throughout the night to integrate more
traditional dances, such as Waltz, Tango, and Nightclub Two Step.

We realize this is a hard balance to attain. We have worked hard over the last several years in
pursuit of this goal. We are currently in the process of starting up a second dance night, either
a traditional Ballroom night or a Lindy and Blues night. The goal behind this is to better accommodate
the dance community of Butte County and beyond.

Club Café’s resident DJ is Luke Scherba. Luke DJ’s every night and has done so since the opening of
Club Café. For variety’s sake, and to relieve Luke, from time to time we also feature guest DJs.
All of our DJs are both experienced DJs and dancers.

Resident DJ:   Luke Scherba   Status: House DJ
Guest DJs:   Finn Kraemer   Status: House DJ
Ben House   Status: New Up and coming
Cid Galicia   Status: Late Night DJ
